Ingredients & Equipment

Makes 1 cup

Ingredients

15g of organic ground Pret coffee (Classic Ground or Single Origin)

250ml of water

Equipment

Cafetiere

Kitchen Scales

Method

  1. I recommend working to a ratio of 60g per litre of water, so 15g (or roughly one tablespoon) per 250ml cup.

  2. Place your cafetiere on a kitchen scale, set to 0 and begin to add your coffee grounds.

  3. Boil the kettle and add the water to your cafetiere, keeping to the above ratios.

  4. Immediately stir with a spoon to make sure all the coffee grounds mix with the water. Rest the lid on top, but hold off on plunging just yet.

  5. Set a timer for 4 minutes and leave your coffee to brew.

  6. After 4 minutes, remove the lid & stir again. Then use the spoon to skim off any floating coffee grinds and oils off the surface of the coffee. (Whilst this sounds like a bit of a faff, it makes your cofee taste less 'muddy' and makes it easier for you to plunge!)

  7. Place the lid back on and plunge - but only halfway!

  8. Allow the coffee to rest for 5 minutes (we promise it's worth the wait!) before pouring.

  9. Enjoy!
