Pret's Organic Coffee

Pret's Organic Coffee

When we opened our first shop in London in 1986, we sold about 12 cups of coffee a day. Since then, we’ve invested in the very best Italian coffee machines (oh, they’re good), trained thousands of brilliant Baristas (they’re even better) and built long-lasting relationships with our coffee farmers through the Pret Coffee fund.

Sourcing

Sourcing

It all begins with the best hand-picked beans. Pret’s espresso is a complex blend of organic beans from Peru, Honduras, Ethiopia and Sumatra. Each origin provides a unique and crucial note to the distinctive Pret flavour – rich and intense with dark chocolate and bittersweet caramel tones. Sustainable farming practices ensure our farmers protect the land they farm and provide us with fresh and delicious coffee harvests, year after year.

Pret's Barista Competition

Pret's Barista Competition

At Pret, our Baristas are at the heart of everything we do.

This year, we’ve been celebrating their expertise with our exciting Pret Barista Competition. After weeks of intense competition, we recently held the semi-final round in our Support Centre, where the top 16 Baristas from across the country showcased their exceptional coffee-making skills. Our Baristas were judged on the quality, temperature, weight, speed and WOW factor of their preparation.

A special congratulations to Alexandra from London, Tottenham Hale Station shop, Kamilla from Glasgow, Gordon Street shop, Daria from London, Bishopsgate shop, and Yeeun from London, Wilton Road shop, our talented finalists.

They're set to brew up a storm in the final showdown in July – with one being crowned 2024 champion.

The Pret Coffee Fund

The Pret Coffee Fund

Since setting up The Pret Coffee Fund in 2014, we've been building long-lasting relationships with our coffee farmers – they make our beans so wonderful after all. Together with the Cenfrocafe Cooperative in Peru, we have designed a course to educate, inspire and support the next generation of coffee farmers to stay in farming. With this course, we want to help them to build a long-lasting profitable business and keeping their craft and organic farming practices going.

Always organic

Always organic

All our coffee is organic. So is our tea and all our milk and milk alternatives. Organic is not a brand - it’s a way of farming. Our milk comes from cows that enjoy a natural diet, while our coffee is grown on small farms in harmony with the environment.

Freshly roasted

Freshly roasted

Coffee is at its very best whenfreshly roasted. We batch roast our beans every week right here in the UK. Our coffee experts offer there aren’t afraid to say they’re pretty picky. From temperature and time to the all-important ‘first crack’, these coffee craftspeople put great care into making sure Pret’s coffee tastes great throughout the year.

Brilliant Baristas

Brilliant Baristas

Our coffee machines are engineering wonders. But it’s our brilliantly trained Baristas that are the wizards behind our coffee. With over three months of training under their belts, they know exactly how to grind, brew and steam to create cup after cup of 'perfect Pret' coffee. Finished with milk or alternatives, long or short, white or with sprinkles, but always organic and always with a smile.
